A choice?

As various bloggers have pointed out (including The American Prospect), portraying Sarah Palin's choice not to abort her Down's syndrome child and Bristol Palin's choice to bring her child to term even though she is unwed grants to these two women what they want to take away from all women, i.e., the right to make their own choices. If McCain/Bush/Cheney/Palin had their way, there would never be any such choices.

So why are these two women so heroic in making a choice that these people think should not be a choice? Are they saying that they are heroic because they resisted temptation? So the decision about whether or not to abort is always a morality play in which the abortion option is always a temptation of the devil?
